My work draws upon my life long fascination with wild animals and the natural world and seeks to capture everyday moments within an animals life. By exploring these moments I aim to provide insight into animal behavior and how small, often minute changes in body form or expression can convey not only information, but also give insight into an individuals intent, motivation and emotional state. My work is strongly informed by my varied life experiences with wild animals as well as my academic understanding of animal behaviour gained during, and after being awarded my PhD investigating animal personality. It was during the early stages of my academic career that I came to fully appreciate and get excited by the complexities of animal behavior. I now draw upon these experiences using clay as a medium to explore the beauty of the animal form and hopefully reveal something previously unnoticed.
In 2020 my work was selected as a finalist for The David Shepherd Foundations Wildlife artist of the Year, and Creates Gallery Emerging artist award. My work has in addition been selected for The Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London.
In recent months I have also begun to produce contemporary sculptures, exploring both form and colour and how the two interact in the physical space. This body of work is currently evolving and developing as I explore this new aspect of my practice.
My work is currently on how at the following galleries:
King Street Gallery, Carmarthen
Pure Art, Milford Haven
Really Very Nice Gallery, Bury St Edmunds
Workshop Wales, Fishguard
